The Collection
Our washable Collage collection is inspired by the abstract compositions of ripped street posters. Our designers photographed remnants of torn flyers around Venice Beach, and looked to Jacques Villeglé’s décollage art for inspiration. Décollage is made by tearing away parts of an image, creating meaning through absence. Tonal hues and fragmented geometrics highlight the rich texture of this washable weave.
The Design
Goma’s large-scale distressed geometrics mirror the effects of scratched and peeled images.
The Material
Soft with a very subtle silk-like sheen, this OEKO-TEX® certified polypropylene rug is durable, mildew-resistant, and machine-washable. In this piece, it's combined with a cotton backing that's both strong and supple. Cotton, a vegetable fiber, is widely used across rug traditions because of its sturdiness and longevity.
The Maker
Our partner in Turkey began as a small family-owned weaving house over 50 years ago, with only two looms. Today, they're recognized as an award-winning leader in weaving technology, even making their own yarn for their various types of textile production.
The Designer
Our in-house, all-star design team works across Los Angeles, Istanbul, Bhadohi, and Mumbai. Starting with the weave itself, they determine the collection material, technique, and mood. When designs are finalized, they conduct an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and hue before it goes to production.
- Clean on low power with a non-rotary vacuum or suction attachment (no spinning brush) only
- Lightly vacuum the rug once a week
- Use a high-quality rug pad to absorb shock and reduce damage
- Light shedding, matting, and signs of fiber or thread breakage may occur over time, depending on the material and weave. In high-traffic areas, these effects may appear more quickly.
- When it's time for a deeper clean, machine wash your rug on a normal setting with 1 TBSP of detergent. Line dry afterwards.
- For size 5' x 8' we recommend using a 60lb (8cu ft) commercial washing machine, for 6' x 9' we recommend an 80lb (11.5cu ft) commercial washing machine, and for 8' x 10' we recommend a 100lb (13.5cu ft) commercial washing machine. Please call your local laundromat ahead of time to determine if the right washer size is available.
- For sizes 9' x 12' and above, spot or dry clean.
- Be sure to wash rugs according to their recommended washing machine size capacity. Please note: failure to adhere to size recommendations could result in damage to your machine.
- If your rug is heavily soiled, or if it's tough to find a laundromat, dry cleaning is recommended
- A slight shrinkage of up to 3% can be expected for all washable rugs
- Foot traffic and movement can skew the fiber direction of your rug. For a more uniform look, brush your rug with your hand or a stiff plastic bristle brush to smooth and reorient the pile.
- Spot cleaning instructions:
- Lightly dampen a paper towel or cloth with clean water
- Gently blot the affected area with your damp towel or cloth to dilute the stain
- If the stain persists, try using an unscented, citrus-free, clear soap to avoid bleaching the textile.
- Repeat this process until the stain is removed
- Vacuum on low power with a non-rotary (no spinning brush) vacuum or suction attachment only.
